ABEOKUTA SOUTH CHAIRMAN DISTRIBUTES FURNITURE, WRITING MATERIALS TO SCHOOLS


ABEOKUTA – July 10, 2025





In a renewed demonstration of his administration’s commitment to improving basic education, the Executive Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Balogun Olaniyi Afeez, on Wednesday paid a working visit to two public schools within the local government area, where he distributed furniture and writing materials to pupils.


The beneficiary schools were Baptist Primary School and Ijaye Community Nursery and Primary School, both located in Abeokuta.



Hon. Afeez, accompanied by top officials of the local government, including the Vice Chairman, Mrs. Oluranti Ogunmokun, Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Mustapha Kodaolu Olajide, Supervisor for Information, Education and Sports, Mr. Waheed Amerinso, the Acting Head of Local Government Administration, Mr. Adeshina, and other political appointees, emphasized the importance of quality education as a foundation for future success.


Addressing the pupils during the visit, the chairman encouraged them to take their studies seriously, maintain discipline, and exhibit good character. He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to continue investing in critical sectors, especially education, to foster a conducive learning environment for children across the local government.


According to Hon. Afeez, the intervention is part of ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and learning materials in public schools, aimed at enhancing the quality of education and ensuring that no child is left behind.


The distribution exercise was well received by staff and pupils of the schools, who expressed gratitude to the chairman and his team for the timely support and commitment to educational development in the area

In addition, health insurance coverage was provided for commercial motorcycle riders (Okada operators) and elderly residents, further demonstrating the administration’s commitment to social welfare. Looking ahead, the council has approved and commenced the construction of a 1.3-kilometre road in Kuto, Abeokuta, as part of its ongoing infrastructure development drive.
