Abeokuta South LG: Balogun Engages NULGE and Staff for Enhanced Collaboration

In a bid to strengthen collaboration within the local government, Hon. Balogun Afeez Olaniyi met with staff members and the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Abeokuta South Chapter today. The gathering aimed to promote a unified approach towards effective governance.


During the meeting, NULGE Chairman Comrade Olawale Omidiji reaffirmed the union's unwavering support for Balogun’s administration, citing positive feedback about his leadership as the driving force behind their commitment. He also took the opportunity to address various challenges faced by council employees.


Mr. Rufus Olaleye, the Head of the Local Government, emphasized the chairman's eagerness to hold this meeting, commending NULGE and staff for their participation and engagement.


In his remarks, Balogun highlighted his focus on addressing workers' needs since taking office while acknowledging the existing challenges within the council. He urged staff not to engage in political maneuvering during their duties, emphasizing the importance of transparency and accountability as key drivers of progress in the local government.


The chairman also announced plans to establish health clinics for staff and political appointees to promote well-being within the Abeokuta South community. He encouraged everyone to embrace a culture of excellence in public service and collaborate with him to create a prosperous future for the local government.


Additionally, the meeting concluded with Balogun being honored as Patron of the NULGE Abeokuta South Chapter, while Vice Chairman Mrs. Oluranti Ogunmoku was named Matron of the chapter.

In addition, health insurance coverage was provided for commercial motorcycle riders (Okada operators) and elderly residents, further demonstrating the administration’s commitment to social welfare. Looking ahead, the council has approved and commenced the construction of a 1.3-kilometre road in Kuto, Abeokuta, as part of its ongoing infrastructure development drive.
