Abeokuta South Celebrates Ogun State's 49th Anniversary with a Message of Progress and Unity

 Hon. Balogun Olaniyi Afeez, Executive Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, has issued a heartfelt message to commemorate the 49th anniversary of Ogun State. In his statement, he celebrated the significant achievements and resilience of the state over the past five decades.


Reflecting on Ogun State's journey since its establishment, Afeez highlighted the state's growth in democracy, economic development, and industrialization. As Nigeria's second most industrialized state, Ogun has earned recognition for its contributions to national and international progress, being the birthplace of notable figures such as former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.


Afeez expressed gratitude to all past governors for their dedication and integrity, acknowledging that their legacies continue to inspire current leadership. He particularly commended the current administration under Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun for prioritizing human capital and infrastructure development, positioning Ogun State for future success.


In his role as Chairman, Afeez reaffirmed his commitment to good governance and inclusivity within the local government, emphasizing a focus on providing opportunities for all citizens of Abeokuta South.


As the state marks this milestone, Afeez extended congratulations to all indigenes of Ogun State, expressing hope that this anniversary will usher in a new era of growth and prosperity for the region.

In addition, health insurance coverage was provided for commercial motorcycle riders (Okada operators) and elderly residents, further demonstrating the administration’s commitment to social welfare. Looking ahead, the council has approved and commenced the construction of a 1.3-kilometre road in Kuto, Abeokuta, as part of its ongoing infrastructure development drive.
