Amotekun Corps Partners with Abeokuta South LG for Enhanced Security

The Abeokuta South Local Government has strengthened its partnership with the Ogun State Security Network, also known as Amotekun Corps, to enhance security in the area.


In a meeting held on Monday at the council's secretariat, the Executive Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Balogun Olaniyi Afeez (BOA), emphasized his administration's commitment to securing life and property across the local government area. Represented by the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), Hon. Mustapha Kodaolu, Hon. Balogun noted that security matters are a top priority for the local government.



During the meeting, Hon. Mustapha recalled the Executive Chairman's "i-W.I.S.H." Program, launched during his first 100 days in office. The initiative aims to address security challenges, as well as welfare, insurance, and healthcare issues in the local government area.


The Corps Commandant for Abeokuta South, Mr. Olusola Dolamu, stressed the importance of collaboration between Amotekun and the local government. He emphasized the need for effective communication to address security challenges. Mr. Dolamu reaffirmed the corps' commitment to working with other security agencies to maintain and strengthen security for all residents.


Other attendees at the meeting included the Head of Local Government Administration, Mr. Olaleye Rufus; the NULGE Chairman, Comr. Omidiji Olusola; and the Personal Assistant to the Chairman, Mr. Damilola Adekanlu.

In addition, health insurance coverage was provided for commercial motorcycle riders (Okada operators) and elderly residents, further demonstrating the administration’s commitment to social welfare. Looking ahead, the council has approved and commenced the construction of a 1.3-kilometre road in Kuto, Abeokuta, as part of its ongoing infrastructure development drive.
