Abeokuta South Council Chairman, Swears in New Supervisors and Advisers to Enhance Local Governance

The Hon. Balogun Led Abeokuta South Local Government  held a significant swearing-in ceremony today for newly appointed supervisors and special advisers at the Council Secretariat. This event marks an important step toward strengthening grassroots governance.


During the ceremony, the Executive Chairman Hon. Balogun Olaniyi Afeez (BOA) emphasized the importance of teamwork and dedication in achieving the administration’s objectives. He described the appointments as a pivotal moment for governance and urged the new councillors and advisers to seize this opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the progress of Abeokuta South.

The chairman highlighted that the tasks ahead require serious commitment rather than mere celebration. He expressed gratitude to party leaders for their steadfast support since he assumed office.


Reaffirming his administration’s commitment, Hon. Balogun vowed that the people of Abeokuta South would not be intimidated by threats to peace and progress. He encouraged all stakeholders to set aside differences and collaborate for the local government's development, welcoming constructive ideas and suggestions to advance Abeokuta South.


Speaking on behalf of the newly sworn-in officials, Bar. Kehinde expressed deep gratitude to the Executive Chairman for the opportunity to serve. He assured that the appointees would dedicate themselves to their responsibilities with integrity and diligence.


The event was attended by prominent political figures, including Hon. Henry Adetunji Fagbenro (Chairman APC, Abeokuta South), Chief Showunmi, Hon. Adeyemi Ademuyiwa, Hon. Farouk Akintunde, Hon. Allen Taylor, Chief Alh. Isiaka Amodemaja, Hon. Alh. Wale Azeez Willykay, Chief Alawo Eerin, and other party stewards.


Other distinguished attendees included Hon. Mustapha Kodaolu Olajide (SLG), Mr. Rufus (HOLGA), Mr. Folabi (DGSA), and various career officers.

In addition, health insurance coverage was provided for commercial motorcycle riders (Okada operators) and elderly residents, further demonstrating the administration’s commitment to social welfare. Looking ahead, the council has approved and commenced the construction of a 1.3-kilometre road in Kuto, Abeokuta, as part of its ongoing infrastructure development drive.
