Lisabi Festival: Abeokuta South Chairman, Balogun, Celebrates Alake, Reaffirms Commitment to Egba Unity

The Executive Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Balogun Olaniyi Afeez, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, His Royal Majesty Oba Dr. Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo (Okukenu IV), and the entire Egba Traditional Council, as the 38th edition of the Lisabi Festival gets underway.


In a statement issued from his media office, Hon. Balogun praised the Alake for his exemplary leadership and enduring contributions to the preservation of Egba heritage and development of the region.



“The Egba people are truly fortunate to have a monarch of such wisdom and vision. Kabiyesi, Ki ade pe lori, ki bata pe lese!” the chairman stated.


Describing the annual Lisabi Festival as more than a cultural celebration, Hon. Balogun emphasized its importance in reinforcing the shared identity, values, and resilience of the Egba people.


“This is a time to honor the bravery and foresight of Lisabi, our revered ancestor, and to rekindle the spirit of unity and determination that defines Egbaland,” he said.


He further called on the Egba people to use the occasion to recommit themselves to promoting sustainable development, youth empowerment, and food security, noting that these values are central to building a prosperous future for the region.


“Let us work hand-in-glove to create opportunities for our youth, safeguard our traditions, and ensure that economic progress reaches every member of our community,” he added.


Hon. Balogun concluded by wishing all participants a joyful and memorable Lisabi Festival, reaffirming his administration’s dedication to supporting cultural initiatives and grassroots development.

Looking ahead, the council has approved and commenced the construction of a 1.3-kilometre road in Kuto, Abeokuta, as part of its ongoing infrastructure development drive.
