In a bid to ensure proper coordination and curb violations of revenue payment obligations, the Revenue Collection and Monitoring Unit of Abeokuta South Local Government on Thursday sealed several business premises, including the popular Halmod Complete Entertainment located at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Abeokuta.

Also affected were the spare parts market at Isale Igbehin and multiple shops at Gbangba Market in Ijaye, all sealed by the local government’s revenue enforcement team.

Leading the operation, the IGR Consultant to the local government, Mr. Olayinka Adenuga, explained that the enforcement was part of efforts to ensure strict compliance with the administration’s revenue generation mandate.

He noted that the majority of the affected outlets had previously received notices from the local government, with only a few complying before the enforcement action was carried out. Other Outlets like Shalom Mega Stores, Justrite Supermarkets etc were visited and given deadlines to comply.

Speaking on behalf of the Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Balogun Olaniyi Afeez, his personal assistant Mr. Damilola Adekanlu appealed to business owners within the local government area to cooperate with the administration. He assured them that compliance with revenue obligations would support the equitable distribution of the dividends of democracy across the local government.
