“Silent Achiever”: OGHA Committee Surprised by Balogun’s Impressive Projects in Abeokuta South
…Commends Chairman for Delivering Development Without Noise

The Ogun State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has expressed surprise and commendation for the Executive Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Balogun Olaniyi Afeez, describing him as a silent achiever following an impressive inspection of projects carried out across the council area.
Led by its Chairman, Hon. Jemili Akingbade, the Committee paid an oversight visit to the council as part of its statutory role in monitoring grassroots governance and ensuring adherence to due process. To their amazement, the committee members met several impactful projects—many of which had been completed or were at advanced stages—without fanfare or publicity.
Hon. Akingbade, visibly impressed by the scale and quality of the work done, praised the chairman’s quiet approach to leadership and commitment to service delivery. “We are genuinely surprised by what we’ve seen here today. The chairman has clearly prioritized work over words, and his results speak volumes,” he remarked.
He encouraged the chairman to maintain transparency and to continue adhering to proper documentation processes for all projects, including cost details, approval memos, bills of quantity, and FG&PC records.
The Committee, which includes Honourables Adegoke Adeyanju, Samsideen Lawal, Folawewo Salami, Yusuf Sherrif, and Wasiu Ayodele, inspected several projects initiated and executed by the local government under Balogun’s administration. This projects includes Borehole Drilling, Bridge construction, Renovation of Local Government facilities sited in some of the strategic places across the local government, which include Ago Iba, Oke Ikanna, Itori Odo, Dental Centre Nawardeen area, and Onikoko, as the majority of this area's project has reached 90% completion.
In his remarks, Hon. Balogun thanked the committee for the visit and expressed his belief in leadership through service, not noise. “Our goal has always been to let the work speak for itself. Development doesn’t require a megaphone—it requires focus, planning, and commitment to the people,” he said.
