In preparation for the Eid-il-Adha celebration, Hon. Balogun Olaniyi Afeez (BOA), Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, has extended goodwill to members of his local government by distributing over 200 bags of rice, more than 100 rams, and several cash gifts. The gesture was aimed at supporting Muslim faithfuls to mark the important Islamic festival with joy and ease.

The distribution, which took place ahead of the Eid celebration, was coordinated through trusted representatives across the local government area. Rather than organize a public event, Hon. Afeez opted for a structured approach, ensuring that party leaders, community representatives, and group heads received the items on behalf of their respective beneficiaries.

The beneficiaries include party faithfuls, religious leaders, youth and women groups, as well as other community stakeholders. By routing the gifts through established channels, the chairman ensured that the items reached the intended recipients in time for the celebration, avoiding unnecessary crowds while maintaining the spirit of giving.

In a statement, Hon. Afeez said the distribution was a gesture of solidarity and support during the festive period. He noted that Eid-il-Adha is a time for compassion, sacrifice, and unity, and urged residents to celebrate in peace and harmony. He also thanked community leaders for assisting in the timely delivery of the items.

The chairman’s act of generosity has drawn praise from various quarters, with residents commending him for his consistent commitment to the welfare of the people. Many described the gesture as timely and thoughtful, especially in light of current economic challenges, as it enabled more families to fully partake in the Eid celebration
